Kelly MacDonald is a Professor and HE Sellers Research Chair in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine. She also holds cross appointments in the Department of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases and the Department of Immunology.

- Study of mucosal factors like the genital microbiome affecting immunity and vaccine delivery.
- Collaboration with the Canadian Public Health Agency and HIV/STD research in Nairobi, Kenya (25+ years).
