Kelly Harris is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences, holding roles including Sr. Staff Director. He previously served as Associate Professor of African American Studies at Chicago State University and Director of Africana Studies at Seton Hall University. His expertise spans African politics, globalization, and neoliberal development, with emerging research on 19th-century Black social scientists.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University, MA in Black Studies from The Ohio State University, and BA in African American Studies from Temple University. His scholarship critically engages African political discourse and historical frameworks.
With extensive experience in program development and leadership, Harris has contributed to rebuilding Africana Studies programs. His sole listed publication (2005) analyzes Claude Ake’s critiques of African political and development narratives, reflecting his focus on marginalized perspectives in academia.
