Dr. Kelly Donati is a Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow in the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University. Her research focuses on food systems, urban agriculture, and community-based food infrastructure. She holds a PhD in Agriculture, Environmental and Related Sciences from the University of Melbourne.
Her work examines how food systems intersect with human and ecological health, emphasizing small-scale farming, urban agriculture, and community-driven initiatives. She has contributed to policy development through her role as founding chair of Sustain: The Australian Food Network. Key research areas include food sustainability, cultural geography, and the environmental humanities.
Recent publications analyze pandemic gardening’s societal impacts, urban agriculture policy, and multispecies gastronomy. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges geography, sociology, and science studies. She actively collaborates with government and community groups to advance equitable, resilient food systems aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Donati is open to supervising PhD/Masters students and collaborates on projects addressing food security and community resilience. She maintains an ORCID profile (0000-0001-7978-1484) and publishes frequently on platforms like The Conversation.
