Kelly Chandler, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University's College of Health. She holds joint affiliations with the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children & Families and the Center for Healthy Aging Research. Her research applies a work-family justice lens to understand how workplace conditions, policies, and culture impact daily stress transmission and well-being across employees and their families.
Dr. Chandler's research focuses on:
- Structural inequities in work-family integration, particularly for women and marginalized groups
- Interventions to reduce work-family conflict through supervisor training and flexible scheduling
- Daily stress dynamics within families using ecological momentary assessment
- Health implications of caregiving and occupational demands
Her publications consistently explore stress transmission mechanisms, workplace interventions, and gender/racial justice in family policy. Recent work emphasizes COVID-19 resilience, dementia caregiving, and methodological innovations in family leisure research.
Dr. Chandler directs the Family, Work, & Well-Being Lab and collaborates with the Family Policy Group. She translates research into practice through podcasts, community engagement, and her contributions to the book Work-Family Ready: Navigating Your Job While Parenting Teens (2025).
