Kelly Barr is a violinist and faculty member in the Strings department at New England Conservatory's Expanded Education division. She has been a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1996 and maintains an active performance career as a soloist and orchestral musician. Her educational background includes a BM from the University of Minnesota and an MM from NEC, with studies under James Buswell, Almita Vamos, Roland Vamos, and Catherine Tait. She has participated in prestigious competitions and collaborations, including performances with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and guest appearances at institutions like the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
Her chamber music training includes coachings with renowned artists such as Louis Krasner and Eugene Lehner. Beyond orchestral roles, Barr has engaged in educational outreach through performances at the Children's Museum in Washington, D.C., and participation in programs like the Musicorda Summer String Program. Her awards reflect recognition in competitive solo and orchestral contexts.
