Emil Altschuler is a faculty member at New England Conservatory (NEC) within the Expanded Education division, serving as a Chamber Music Coach. He holds a BM from The Juilliard School and an MM from Yale School of Music, studying under Dorothy DeLay, Naoko Tanaka, and Erick Friedman. A renowned violinist, he is celebrated for his technical precision and artistry, with performances at venues like Lincoln Center and collaborations with orchestras such as the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. His recordings include solo albums featuring works by Paganini, Ravel, and Piazzolla, as well as educational materials like The ABCs of Violin.
Altschuler’s educational contributions span roles at NEC’s Festival Youth Orchestra, Northeastern University, and Tufts University. In 2019, he founded the Altschuler Summer Music Institute (ASMI) in Italy, offering intensive training in chamber music, orchestral performance, and technique. The ASMI Chamber Orchestra has performed at Teatro Galli, and the institute collaborates with artists from institutions like the Juilliard School and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
His teaching emphasizes technical mastery and artistic expression, complemented by his active private studio and online instruction. Altschuler also tours with the ASMI Chamber Ensemble, performing at series such as Emory Chamber Music Society and Tuesday’s Music Live.
