Kelly Arenson is an Associate Professor at Duquesne University's McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts. Her research focuses on ancient ethics, particularly concepts of pleasure and happiness in Plato, Epicurus, and Aristotle. Additional interests include philosophy of death, technology/robotics, and personal identity. She authored Health and Hedonism in Plato and Epicurus (2019) and edited The Routledge Handbook of Hellenistic Philosophy (2020). Dr. Arenson founded and presides over the Hellenistic Philosophy Society (HPS), which convenes at the American Philosophical Association's annual meetings.
She teaches diverse undergraduate and graduate courses, including Philosophy of Death, Ancient Philosophy, Logic, and specialized seminars on Epicurean Ethics and Plato. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from Emory University, and a B.A. from Boston College.
