Kellie Burns

Kellie Burns is a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at the School of Health and Life Sciences, University of the West of Scotland. She is a registered mental health nurse with a focus on dementia services, person-centred therapeutic care, and advancing mental health education. Kellie is actively engaged as a Fellow of the Alzheimer Scotland Centre for Policy and Practice, contributing to practice projects, educational initiatives, and academic programs.

Her clinical background includes roles in inpatient nursing, care home liaison, and operational/clinical management of memory assessment services within NHS older adult community mental health teams. Her teaching and research emphasize holistic, accessible approaches to mental health education and care. Kellie is planning to commence PhD studies in 2026.

Key research interests include neurodiversity, delirium, integration of care services, carer education, and widening access to higher education.
