Keith Woodhouse is an Associate Professor in the History Department at Northwestern University, holding a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin (2010). His research focuses on modern U.S. history with emphases in environmental, political, and intellectual history. He teaches courses in 20th-century U.S. history and environmental policy, and directs the Material History Lab. His book The Ecocentrists received the 2018 Society for U.S. Intellectual History Annual Book Prize.
Professional affiliations include the Environmental Policy and Culture Program at Northwestern. Notable awards include the ASG Faculty Honor Roll (2014-2015) and a Dana and David Dornsife Fellowship (2016-2017). He previously taught at University of Wisconsin campuses and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California.
His research explores intersections between radical environmentalism, political philosophy, and American political thought. Recent publications analyze collaborative environmental governance in California and the relationship between liberalism and ecological politics in the 1960s.
