Dr. Keith White is a Visiting Professor at the Central European University (Budapest College), affiliated with the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics at the University of Salford. His research focuses on water quality management in urban waterways, metal pollution impacts on aquatic organisms, and ecological recovery of polluted systems. Collaborating with industries and environmental agencies, he develops models for ecological management, such as those applied to Salford Quays. His work also explores nanoparticle toxicity, particularly nanosilver's effects on food chains, and examines pollution from mining and hydrometeorological events. He has contributed to 57 research outputs, including studies on acid mine drainage, phenanthrene toxicity, and bioindicator systems.
- External Affiliation: Central European University (since 2010)
- Key Projects: Salford Quays restoration, acid mine drainage remediation, metal pollution monitoring
Research interests include trace metal impacts on invertebrates, ecosystem-level pollution effects, and the role of organisms in metal detoxification. Recent studies explore neurophysiological changes in Lymnaea snails and community shifts in Anglesey catchments. His work aligns with UN SDGs for clean water and sustainable cities.
Publications highlight themes in ecotoxicology, bioremediation, and pollutant exposure effects. He co-created datasets on chironomid morphology and contributed to impacts like the Manchester Ship Canal redevelopment.
