FRANCISCO DE ASIS CORDOBA GARCIA is a Professor at the Faculty of Experimental Sciences, Universidad de Huelva, Spain, affiliated with the Department of Integrated Sciences and the research group BIO282 Cellular Responses to Environmental Stress. His academic career spans over three decades, rooted in Cell Biology and environmental stress adaptation.
He earned a Ph.D. in 1986 from the Universidad de Córdoba for his work on nitrogen assimilation in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, supervised by Dr. Emilio Fernandez Reyes. His research focuses on oxidative stress mechanisms, heavy metal toxicity, and biocorrosion in acid mine drainage (AMD) contexts.
His 15 most recent publications (2022–2024) highlight interdisciplinary work bridging environmental toxicology, materials science, and plant virology. Studies on AMD pollution, diatoms as bioindicators, and Viroscope’s bioinformatics tool for viral diagnosis dominate his output. Other works address surgical techniques, molecular plant health, and public health screening programs.
Research Collaborations: His team collaborates with the Center for Research in Natural Resources, Health, and Environment, integrating environmental, medical, and engineering perspectives.
