Dr. Keith Armstrong is a Senior Lecturer (part-time) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in the School of Creative Arts, Contemporary Art department. His roles include researcher at QUT's Environment Research Group and Senior Research Fellow at the University of the Free State, South Africa. He holds a PhD from QUT and has over three decades of experience as a new media artist and academic.
Research focuses on ecosophical art practices, blending social and ecological justice with interdisciplinary collaborations. Key projects include the Re-Future Project (Mellon Foundation-funded), Carbon_Dating, and Over|Many|Horizons. Armstrong’s work spans ecological installations, international exhibitions (e.g., Ars Electronica, ISEA), and grants from Australia Council and ANAT.
Teaching includes courses on climate change and art at QUT, emphasizing transdisciplinary approaches. Awards include Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention (2005), ANAT Synapse Fellowship (2024), and multiple national/international exhibitions. His art explores environmental futures through interactive, site-specific, and community-engaged practices.
