Keith A. Grant is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Coordinator of the International Affairs Major at James Madison University (JMU). He joined the JMU faculty in 2013 after serving as a visiting professor at Bucknell University and as a senior political scientist at Guardian Six Consulting. Grant holds a B.A. in International Relations and French from Bucknell University (2004) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Arizona (2010), specializing in international relations and research methodology.
His research focuses on violent interstate conflict, international institutions, and applications of social network analysis to global affairs. Current research explores participation in intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), alliance portfolio management, and feedback mechanisms in international behavior. His work has been published in International Studies Quarterly, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and the Journal of Peace Research. He co-edited Major Powers and the Quest for Status in International Politics (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011).
At JMU, Grant teaches courses on American foreign policy, research methods, international organizations, and conflict analysis. He actively engages in curriculum development for the International Affairs program and contributes to departmental initiatives.
