Prof. Kei Otsuki is a Professor of International Development Studies at Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences, Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning. Her research focuses on social equity, sustainable development, and contested relationships between global sustainability agendas and local environments. She has conducted fieldwork in Brazil, Mozambique, Ghana, and Tanzania, exploring topics like forest conservation, displacement, climate change, and green economy practices.

Education: PhD in Development Sociology (Wageningen University), MSc/BA (University of Tokyo). Previously worked at United Nations University (Research Associate). Currently an editor for Sustainability Science and Territory, Politics, Governance.
Key research projects include Mozambique's 'green' mineral extraction impacts, Indonesia's Nusantara capital development, and energy transitions in Tanzania/Mozambique. Recent publications address displacement equity, infrastructural violence, and climate-induced land governance reforms.
