Kebin Liu is a Professor at the Medical College of Georgia, affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and The Graduate School. He has served as a Principal Investigator at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center since 2005.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, University of Oklahoma (1996)
- MS in Plant Physiology, Zhejiang University (1986)
- BS in Botany/Plant Biology, Central China Agricultural University (1983)
His research focuses on epigenetics and cancer immunobiology, investigating molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression and therapeutic resistance. His recent work explores signaling pathways (e.g., EGFR/MEK1/MAPK1/2), epigenetic modifications (e.g., H3K9me3), and immune-related transcriptional regulators like IRF8.
His publications from 2022–2023 highlight interdisciplinary trends in cancer biology, molecular therapy, and metabolic reprogramming. Key themes include apoptosis resistance in breast cancer, tumor suppression in colon epithelium, and lipid nanoparticle-based interventions for melanoma.
- Scientific Awards:
- Basic Science Research Distinguished Faculty Award (2019)
- Distinguished Faculty Award (2014)
- Young Basic Science Faculty Award (2009)
He has contributed to education through courses such as BCMB 9210 (Investigation of Problem), BCMB 8201 (Current Topics & Techniques in Molecular Biology), and BCMB 8340 (Elements of Scientific Presentation). His service includes roles on the VA IBC Committee (since 2014) and as a reviewer for NIH (since 2016).
