Kayleigh Charlton is a Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde's Children and Young People's Centre for Justice, focusing on justice inequalities, gender and sexuality, queer politics, and creative methodologies. Her work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Education and Social Justice.

Kayleigh’s research explores LGBTQ+ experiences in carceral systems, using interdisciplinary and speculative fiction approaches. She specializes in creative methodologies and critical analysis of queer spaces and justice systems.
Her recent work includes a Nuffield-funded project on children in conflict with the law, co-produced with a Young Advisory Group. She contributes to criminology, queer theory, and climate justice through publications, panels, and presentations.
Kayleigh received the Doctoral Student Recognition Award in 2023. Her activities include organizing symposia, presenting at conferences, and engaging with external institutions on feminist methodologies and creative writing in academia.
