Kaya van Beynen serves as Associate Dean & Librarian at the University of South Florida (USF). She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from McGill University, an M.A. in Geography and Earth Sciences from McMaster University, and an M.Sc. in Library and Information Science from Simmons College. Her research focuses on Library and Information Science, Collection Development, and Information Literacy, with additional emphasis on Environmental Education through projects funded by the Environmental Protection Agency and National Science Foundation.
Dr. van Beynen has led three major grants, including the Water Education Grant (EPA) and EvalFest Mini-Methods Grant (NSF), and has contributed to interdisciplinary collaborations such as the Sustainability Index for Small Island Developing States. She has received notable recognitions including the 2012 USFSP Outstanding Non-Teaching Faculty Award and 2017 Fellow of the Leading Change Institute (CLIR/EDUCAUSE).
Her professional activities include memberships in the Tampa Bay Library Consortium and Education and Behavioral Sciences Section of ACRL. Her work bridges academic librarianship with environmental education, emphasizing community engagement and scholarly resource management.
