Nicole Pagowsky is an Associate Research & Learning Librarian and Instruction Coordinator at the University of Arizona Libraries. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the College of Information Science, teaching LIS 581: Information Literacy Pedagogy. Holding a Master's in Instructional Design, her research focuses on student motivation, critical pedagogy, and library instruction. She co-edited volumes on critical librarianship for the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) and co-created the #critlib Twitter chat, a platform for critical discourse in librarianship.
She coordinates the Libraries' Foundations program and has co-taught the ALA Instructional Design Essentials e-course. Her work challenges traditional library stereotypes and emphasizes social justice, such as advocating for librarianship beyond 'neutrality' in her 2015 'Black Lives Matter!' publication. Nicole's contributions span peer-reviewed articles on topics like the contested 'one-shot' instruction model, relational peer-review processes, and inclusive pedagogy for adjunct instructors.
Her articles reflect a commitment to reimagining library labor, pedagogical frameworks, and the intersection of librarianship with broader social movements. While no specific grants or awards are noted, her publications and initiatives underscore her role as a thought leader in critical library practice.
