Kavita Poply

Dr Kavita Poply is a Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and Consultant in Pain Medicine & Neuromodulation at St Bartholomew's Hospital. She holds a PhD from Queen Mary for groundbreaking research on spinal cord stimulation and brain imaging. Her roles include Deputy Director of the Pain Research Centre (PaRC) and founder of the Postgraduate Certificate in Neuromodulation and Pain Management. She leads international collaborations across Europe, India, UAE, Australia, and the US.

Education: MBBS, FRCA, FPM RCA (Royal College of Anaesthetics), and PhD from Queen Mary University of London. Her research focuses on neuromodulation therapies, pain management algorithms, and clinical trial design. Current grants include NIHR-funded trials (RADICAL, PHANTOM) and industry partnerships with Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and Abbotts.

Research interests emphasize translational applications of neuroimaging (PET) for objective biomarkers in pain treatment. She chairs the North American Neuromodulation Society Education Committee and serves as associate editor for Pain Practice journal. Major projects include the PILOW Wave-writer trial (spinal cord stimulation innovation) and the Multifidus PET study (imaging spinal anatomy).

Collaborations span leading institutions including UCSF, Oxford University Hospitals, and James Cook University Hospital. Her educational programs aim to standardize global neuromodulation practices through accredited postgraduate training.
