Dr. Maslakowski specializes in the intersection of British imperial history, military science, and cultural studies. Her research critically examines 20th-century British counterinsurgency operations across Ireland, Mandate Palestine, Malaya, Kenya, Cyprus, Aden, and Northern Ireland, analyzing how cultural practices shaped military tactics and violence. She integrates gender theory and medical history to explore technologies of imperial control, with particular attention to how scientific frameworks normalized colonial violence. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates on warfare ethics and postcolonial studies.
As a Faculty Fellow at the Dale Center for the Study of War and Society, she contributes to cross-disciplinary initiatives examining the societal dimensions of military conflicts through historical and theoretical lenses.
