Professor Katy Mason is PVC Dean at the University of Salford's Salford Business School and President of the British Academy of Management. With a distinguished career spanning multiple prestigious institutions, she has established herself as a leading scholar in market studies and moral markets research. Her work focuses on collaborative innovation systems designed to co-create markets that benefit people and the planet while respecting planetary boundaries.
Her research interests include Ethnography, Management Practices, Market Studies, Moral Markets, Practice Theory, and Sustainable Business. Professor Mason has published extensively in top journals including Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, and British Journal of Management, with 45 research outputs spanning from 2012 to 2025. Her recent work explores digital methodologies, cyber-physical marketization, and the role of universities in addressing climate change.
Professor Mason's publications reveal a consistent focus on how markets are made, shaped, and transformed through collaborative processes.
