Katy Knortz is a Ph.D. candidate in Classical Art & Archaeology at Princeton University and an Adjunct Lecturer at Hunter College. Her research focuses on urban development in ancient Rome, particularly through her dissertation on Ostian insulae and their role in imperial urbanization. She holds an M.A. from Princeton (2023) and Columbia University (2020), as well as a B.A. from the College of William & Mary (2016).
Her academic affiliations include roles as a teaching assistant at Princeton and adjunct lecturer at Hunter College. She has participated in excavations at Hadrian’s Villa, Pompeii, and Carsulae, and contributes to digital humanities initiatives, including cataloging the Olcott Roman coin collection.
Research interests span classical archaeology, urban studies, and digital methodologies, with active involvement in projects like the Tharros Archaeological Research Project (2022–present). She has also collaborated with media centers at Columbia and Princeton to advance digital archaeology tools.
