Katy Arnett

Dr. Katy Arnett is a Professor of Educational Studies at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) and currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. A SMCM alumna (Class of 2000), she has held multiple leadership roles, including Department Chair of Educational Studies, Director of Teacher Education, and Interim Director of Accessibility Services. She is a former Fulbright Scholar (2012-2013) and co-chairs the College’s reaffirmation of accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Research Interests: Dr. Arnett focuses on inclusive teaching practices in second language classrooms, particularly for students with language-based learning challenges and newcomer populations. Her work bridges academic research and practitioner-oriented outcomes, addressing teacher beliefs, equitable classroom strategies, and policy implementation.
