Dr. Katsutoshi 'Toshi' Mizuta is an Assistant Professor of Computational Agricultural & Environmental Sciences at the University of Kentucky's Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. He holds a PhD in Soil and Water Sciences from Soka University (2016), complemented by expertise in precision agriculture, digital soil mapping, and AI applications in environmental science.
His research integrates biogeochemical analysis with advanced technologies including proximal/airborne/satellite remote sensing to study soil health, climate-smart agriculture, and ecosystem services. Key focus areas include developing decision-support tools for sustainable land management, large-scale modeling of soil properties using machine learning, and analyzing land-use changes through cloud computing platforms.
