Dr. Katrine Smiet is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University Nijmegen, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies. Her work bridges feminist philosophy and critical philosophy of race, focusing on the historical construction of 'the human' through intersectional critiques of gender, race, and coloniality.

Her research interrogates humanism's exclusions through feminist, postcolonial, and decolonial frameworks. She analyzes how subjects are historically categorized as 'fully human,' 'lesser humans,' or 'sub-humans,' developing intersectional humanist alternatives. Publications address pedagogical practices, gender/race intersections, and critiques of secularism.
Recent scholarship (2022-2024) explores decolonial interventions in postcolonial theory, feminist classrooms, and Butler-Lugones comparisons. Earlier works trace intersectionality's evolution from Sojourner Truth's legacy to contemporary secularism debates.
