Katrina Plastow is a Senior Lecturer at the Adelaide Dental School, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Adelaide. She holds a dental therapy qualification from the South Australian Dental Service, a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Honours) from the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH), and a degree in Adult Education from Uni SA.
Her research focuses on child oral health and dental education, particularly examining the relationship between sugar consumption, fluoride exposure, and dental caries in Australian children. She has taught in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) programmes for over 15 years, co-developing the Graduate Certificate in Oral Health Science and coordinating Year 3 BOH courses.
Katrina is an inaugural member of the Adelaide Education Academy, advocates for student-centred teaching methods (blended learning, small-group discovery, clinical simulation), and serves on the School’s Programs Board. She contributed to the Oral Health Therapy Graduate Year Programme and participated in accreditation efforts with the Australian Dental Council.
