London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)معرفی
Professor Katrin Flikschuh holds a Professorship in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She earned a BA in Politics from Essex University, an MA in African Politics from the University of London, and a PhD in Philosophy. Her academic career includes prior roles at the University of Essex, University of Bristol, and University of Manchester. Currently on leave from LSE, she leads the Leverhulme Trust International Networks Project exploring intersections between African and Western political thought.
Her research focuses on Kantian political philosophy, contemporary African philosophy, and the critique of colonial thought. Key areas include Kant's cosmopolitanism, metaphysical foundations of political obligation, and decolonial epistemology. Notable works include Kant and Modern Political Philosophy (CUP 2000) and contributions to debates on African moral theory and colonialism's philosophical legacy.
Flikschuh's work bridges Western and African intellectual traditions, emphasizing global justice, democratic theorizing, and ethical universalism. She has published extensively on topics ranging from Kant's metaphysical postulates to postcolonial identity politics, with a particular focus on reconciling African philosophical contributions with global normative frameworks.
Her current project (Leverhulme Trust-funded) aims to challenge Eurocentric dominance in political theory by integrating African intellectual perspectives into global discourse. This aligns with her broader interest in reorienting political philosophy toward decolonial and transnational methodologies.
