معرفی
Katrin Fischer is a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, affiliated with the Faculty of Human Sciences. She specializes in medieval philosophy, ontology, and the cross-cultural reception of Avicenna's works in Latin Christian thought.
- Education: Magistra Artium (2007) in philosophy, Protestant theology, and economics; PhD (2022) on Avicenna's ontology and its reception.
Her research focuses on the historical and systematic analysis of Avicenna's ontology, particularly its influence on medieval Latin Christian thinkers such as Dominicus Gundisalvi, William of Auvergne, and Henry of Ghent. She examines how the Being-Essence distinction was adapted to reconcile rational metaphysics with theological doctrines of creation.
Recent publications include a monograph (2024) on Avicenna's legacy and contributions to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (2023) and edited volumes. Her work bridges classical Arabic philosophy with medieval European thought.
- Scientific Awards: Doctoral Prize (2023) from the Lower Franconian Memorial Year Foundation and the University of Würzburg.
Fischer contributes to the Arabic and Latin Glossary project and teaches courses in philosophy, including seminars on Neoplatonic cosmogonies, metaphysics in Avicenna, and Thomas Aquinas' moral philosophy.
