Katja Weber is a Professor at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), specializing in international relations and security studies. Her research focuses on institution-building in Europe and Asia Pacific, non-traditional security challenges, and German foreign policy. She has authored influential books such as Hierarchy Amidst Anarchy (2000) and co-edited volumes on EU-Asia relations. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies on regional governance, globalization's impact, and reconciliation processes.
Dr. Weber has held visiting positions at the University of Tokyo (2008) and the National University of Singapore (2010). She directs Georgia Tech's Southeast Asia Summer Study Abroad Program, emphasizing experiential learning. Her research has been supported by prestigious institutions including the SSRC Berlin Program, the European Commission, and the Ford Foundation.
Her scholarship addresses transnational issues like human security in Myanmar, EU-China-Asia dynamics, and Indo-Pacific strategic realignments under U.S. foreign policy. Recent work explores de-globalization trends and their implications for regional stability. She teaches courses on international institutions, European security, and technology policy, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to global challenges.
