Katja Langenbucher

Katja Langenbucher is an Affiliate Professor at the Law School of Sciences Po, Paris, and a full Professor at Goethe University Frankfurt's House of Finance. She has held distinguished visiting positions at Columbia Law School, Fordham Law School (as Edward Mulligan Distinguished Professor), London School of Economics, Sorbonne, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, and Penn Law. Her academic and policy work is deeply rooted in corporate law, capital markets regulation, and interdisciplinary legal economics.

Her research interests include corporate governance, financial regulation, FinTech, artificial intelligence in finance, and legal transplants. She explores how legal frameworks adapt to economic and technological change, particularly in capital markets. Katja Langenbucher advises public institutions and contributes to high-level policy discussions. She serves on the supervisory board of Germany’s financial regulator BaFin and the German Federal Ministry of Finance’s working group on capital markets law. She previously served on the supervisory board of a German bank (2014–2018) and the EU Commission’s High Level Forum on the Capital Market Union (2019–2020), demonstrating sustained engagement with financial governance and reform.
