Katja Harbst is an Associate Researcher at Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC) and a Melanoma Genomics Researcher with the Lund Melanoma Study Group. She is affiliated with the Department of Clinical Sciences at Lund University, where she conducts research in cancer and oncology with a focus on melanoma.
Her research interests include:
- Nodular Melanoma and Uveal Melanoma
- BRCA1/BRCA2 genetic research
- Somatic and germline mutations in cancer
- Immune checkpoint blockade resistance
- Translational medicine approaches to melanoma
Dr. Harbst has contributed to over 39 research outputs including recent publications in Nature Communications, PLoS ONE, and BMJ Open. Her work shows a strong focus on molecular mechanisms of melanoma, genetic mutations, and translational applications for patient care. She is actively involved in the BioMEL project, a long-running translational research biobank initiative that has been active since 2013.
Dr. Harbst regularly participates in academic conferences and retreats related to skin cancer research, including the LUCC-Skin retreat series where she has presented her work on melanoma genomics and translational research.
