Katie de Luca is an Associate Professor at CQUniversity in the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Newcastle, a Masters of Chiropractic from Macquarie University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise & Sport Science) from the University of Sydney.

Her research focuses on epidemiology and management of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly low back pain in older adults and women's health. She leads the industry-funded (Australian Chiropractors Association) 12-month longitudinal BACE-C study on low back pain in elderly chiropractic patients. Her Global Burden of Disease 2021 low back pain estimates in The Lancet Rheumatology reached 40 million people globally.
Recent publications examine physical activity promotion in chiropractic practice, spinal stenosis outcome measures, and comorbid associations between back pain and depression. She has secured over $5.1M in competitive research funding.

She supervises graduate research projects in the Masters of Chiropractic program, focusing on rehabilitation science and chiropractic education. Her teaching includes Advanced Clinical Development, Social Perspectives of Health, and Research Literacy for Health Professionals.
