Dr Katie Robertson is a Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Stirling. Her academic journey includes a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship on entropy's role in black holes and time directionality, a postdoctoral position on the ERC-funded FraMEPhys project, and external membership at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy.
Her research focuses on the philosophical intersections of thermal physics, including the reductive relationship between thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, time-asymmetry, and the objectivity of thermodynamics. She also explores the autonomy of special sciences, weak emergence, and the philosophy of social sciences, social ontology, and medicine.
Katie completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge, where her thesis examined functionalism's role in facilitating reductions. She has collaborated with researchers like Al Wilson and Alex Franklin on topics such as theoretical relicts and screening-off conditions.
