Katie Roberts-Tyler is a Lecturer in Product Design (Teaching and Scholarship) at Bangor University's School of Computer Science and Engineering. She holds multiple qualifications including a BA in Product Design and Digital Modelling from Liverpool John Moores University, an HND in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Birmingham City University, an MA in Design Management, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Bangor University. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and coordinates industry collaborations including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) and student placements.
Research Focus
Her primary research explores pedagogical innovations in design education, with interdisciplinary interests spanning sustainability integration, technology applications (particularly CAD), creative methodologies in product development, and jewellery design processes. This work bridges academic theory with industry practice.

Industry and Academic Contributions
Katie established a successful jewellery design/manufacturing company and previously worked as a CAD Developer and Jewellery Designer, introducing award-winning production innovations. She developed the Bangor Design Process pedagogical model and teaches undergraduate/postgraduate modules in Design and Manufacture, CAD, Digital Graphics, and Design Research Methods. She maintains active consultancy services for design innovation.
