Dr. Katie Oswald is Associate Teaching Professor of Spanish and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She specializes in medieval Spanish epic poetry, Christian-Muslim cultural exchanges, and representations of monarchy in Iberian literature. Her pedagogical research develops innovative approaches to teaching pre-modern texts.
She holds a PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison and teaches courses spanning medieval literature, advanced grammar, and cultural studies. She contributes to prison education through Holy Cross College's Moreau College Initiative.
Her publications analyze the evolution of heroic legends across historical chronicles, with particular focus on the Poema de mio Cid and Bernardo del Carpio narratives.
