Katie Hotko is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University, specializing in A/r/tography and Visual Arts Education. She holds a PhD from Southern Cross University (2017–2022) focusing on creative self-beliefs among primary teachers through Whiteheadian process philosophy. Previously, she served as an Associate Lecturer Teaching Scholar in the School of Education.
Her research explores intersections of art, education, and environmental sustainability, particularly through collaborative art practices. Key areas include socioecological learning, arts-based teacher education, and innovative pedagogical approaches in online environments. She actively contributes to the SEAE (Sustainability, Environmental, and Arts Education) Research Cluster.
Her work has been recognized with the 2022 Outstanding Teaching Award from Southern Cross University. Publications emphasize methodological innovations in A/r/tography and eco-artistic inquiry, with recent focus on digital arts education for pre-service teachers.
