Dr. Katie Hanson is a Senior Lecturer in the Psychology department at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Arts. She joined the university full-time in 2013 after completing her PhD at the University of Sheffield on self-help treatments for depression. Her research focuses on applying positive psychology interventions (PPIs) to improve mental health and well-being, particularly among women experiencing infertility. She teaches Positive Psychology modules in the BSc (Hons) Psychology program and collaborates with the Grow+ team.
Education: BSc Psychology (Sheffield Hallam University, 2007), MSc Positive Psychology (University of East London), PhD in Psychology (University of Sheffield, 2013).
Research interests include PPI efficacy, mental health symptom reduction, and education equity. Her work bridges clinical psychology with academic contexts, emphasizing practical applications of psychological theory. Recent studies explore disparities in student experiences between disabled and non-disabled populations.
Publications span behavioral therapy comparisons, disability in higher education, and predictors of academic success. She is a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
