Christopher Brown is a Lecturer in Social Psychology & Qualitative Research at the University of Sheffield Hallam. He is affiliated with the Sheffield Institute of Social Sciences and the Social and Economic Research Institute, and a member of the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology. His work focuses on understanding psychological and social factors influencing life transitions, particularly in elite sport and parenthood. He holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield (2018) and has experience in sport psychology and charity management.

Research Interests: Qualitative methodologies (phenomenology, discourse analysis, ethnography), athlete retirement challenges, mental health help-seeking behaviors, and career transitions in elite sports. His recent work explores coaches’ roles in athlete transitions and well-being in high-performance environments.
Teaching: Course Leader for BSc Psychology and teaches undergraduate/postgraduate modules in social sciences.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology, integrating qualitative research into practical contexts.
