Katie Gardner is a Lecturer in Arts-based Pedagogical Practices at the University of Leeds, holding a joint appointment between the School of Music and the School of Performance and Cultural Industries. She serves as Programme Lead for the PGDip in Performing Arts Education, delivered in partnership with Opera North, and teaches performance, musicology, and opera modules.

Her research intersects opera and circus arts, focusing on voice, bodily action, and technology in live performance. Current pedagogical work explores inclusive approaches to eXtended Reality (XR) and biodata technologies for equitable teaching. Prior roles include Lecturer at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Ashmolean Junior Teaching Fellow at Oxford, and Digital Learning Producer at Camberwell, Chelsea, and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts, where she contributed to the Erasmus+-funded Accelerate: Accessible Immersive Learning for Art and Design project.

Katie has held performance contracts with Disney Cruise Lines and participated in world premieres at REDCAT, the Hammer Museum, and Highways in Los Angeles. Her work bridges creative practice, pedagogy, and technology, with a focus on inclusivity in arts education.
