Katie Callicott

Katie Callicott is an Academic Tutor in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham, specializing in Applied Educational and Child Psychology. She holds a BSci in Psychology from Cardiff University (2001) and has been practicing as an Educational Psychologist in the West Midlands since 2011. Since 2021, she splits her time 50/50 between academic roles and clinical practice.

Her research focuses on dynamic assessment, video-based reflection tools, and supervision methodologies in educational psychology. She collaborates with University College London to design clinical assessment tools and advocates for narrative therapy and activity theory approaches in practice. Katie is a certified Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) practitioner and supervisor, emphasizing creative video techniques for skill development.

Her recent work explores supervision practices in the pandemic context, published in Educational and Child Psychology. She contributes to the field through editorial roles on the Open Journal of Educational Psychology (2021–2023) and Educational Psychology in Practice (2023–2025).

Katie’s teaching involves mentoring doctoral students on the Applied Educational and Child Psychology Doctorate, blending academic rigor with clinical training. Her research projects emphasize bridging theoretical advances with practical applications, particularly through technology-enhanced learning.
