Professor Katie Bailey is an Emerita Professor of Work and Employment at King's Business School, King's College London. She previously led the HRM & Employment Relations group and has held academic roles at the Universities of Sussex, Kent, Kingston University, and London Business School. Her research focuses on meaningful work, employee engagement, and organizational temporality, with over 145 publications in top journals like Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. She has authored influential textbooks such as Strategic Human Resource Management (2018) and co-edited The Oxford Handbook of Meaningful Work (2019).
Her career includes editorial roles at journals like Human Resource Management Journal and leadership in organizations such as the CIPD and Institute for Employment Studies. Recognized with awards from MIT Sloan Management Review and the Elwood F Holton III Award, her work bridges academia and practice, advising entities like the European Parliament and NHS Employers. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and serves on government advisory groups on post-pandemic workforce recovery.
Research interests include the intersection of work and personal purpose, temporal dynamics in organizations, and ethical leadership.
