Kathy M’Closkey is an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology at the University of Windsor. Her research focuses on Navajo culture, particularly the historical and cultural transformations in Navajo weaving practices. She was honored with the 'Excellence in Diné Studies' award for her contributions to understanding Diné (Navajo) cultural heritage. Her forthcoming book, 'Why the Navajo blanket became a rug,' examines the socioeconomic shifts that redefined Navajo textiles from functional blankets to commercialized rugs. M’Closkey’s work bridges anthropology, cultural history, and Indigenous studies, emphasizing colonial impacts on material culture. She has been actively involved in academic discourse, presenting her research findings in public lectures.
