Kathryn Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Classics at Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the intersection of poetry and science in Hellenistic literature, ancient farming/labor systems, and the study of race in both ancient and modern contexts. She is a Faculty Affiliate of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, & Equity and directs the Classics department's Ampersand program, 'Democracy and Myth in Ancient Greece.'

Research Interests: Dr. Wilson examines how ancient scientific concepts were expressed through poetry, particularly in Ptolemaic Alexandria and under Roman rule. She critically explores how classical studies have been racialized in modern discourse, emphasizing decolonial perspectives. Her work bridges ancient systems of power with contemporary issues of identity.
Teaching: She teaches courses like 'Latin and Greek in Current English,' focusing on linguistic roots and their technical applications. Recent recognitions include her appointment as an A&S Gateway Fellow (2025).
