Dr. Kathleen Kidder is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Seton Hall University's Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures. She specializes in Hellenistic poetry with a focus on representations of truth, mythological symbolism, and Ptolemaic dynastic themes. Her research examines works by poets like Aratus, Callimachus, and Lycophron, exploring how ancient texts encoded cultural and political discourses.
Education: BA from University of Texas at Austin (2011), PhD from University of Cincinnati (2018). Prior teaching roles included positions at College of William and Mary, University of Houston, and Wayne State University.
Research interests span Greek literature's intersection with power dynamics, gender representation, and spatial symbolism in ancient texts. Current projects investigate architectural and geographic space in Lycophron’s Alexandra. Her 2023 monograph Criteria of Truth analyzes truth-assessment processes in Hellenistic poetry.
