Kathryn Shaw is the Ernest C. Arbuckle Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business and Senior Fellow at Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. With over 40 years in academia, her research pioneered 'insider econometrics' using firm data to analyze productivity impacts of HR practices. Previously served on President Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers and as editor of Journal of Labor Economics.
Research examines talent management in high-performance organizations, productivity effects of management practices, and entrepreneurial development. Current work analyzes how firms cultivate star performers and the performance advantages of serial entrepreneurs.
Publications demonstrate sustained focus on workplace organization, incentive structures, and managerial impact. Recent articles explore AI's influence on productivity and inclusive economic growth in developing countries.
