Kathryn Pope serves as Core Faculty in the Undergraduate Studies Department at Antioch University Los Angeles and is Co-Director of the Antioch University Bridge Program. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles and holds a BA in English/Writing from Cardinal Stritch University.
Her research interests focus on the writing process, creative expression, and educational approaches to literature. Pope's teaching philosophy centers on the power of language and writing as acts of ownership and authority, drawing from thinkers like Gloria Anzaldúa who noted 'I am my language.' Her work emphasizes how writing carries personal histories, stories, and cultural contexts.
Pope has received multiple teaching honors including Teacher of the Year (2008) and Recognition of Excellence in Teaching (2007-2008) from Santa Monica College. She was also a Women Making a Difference Award Finalist in 2012.
