Cadyn Cathers, PsyD, is an Adjunct Faculty member at Antioch University Los Angeles (AULA) in the MA in Clinical Psychology program. They also serve as Executive Director of The Affirmative Couch, an online continuing education platform for psychotherapists specializing in sexuality and gender. Their academic journey includes a PsyD in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (2019), an MA in Clinical Psychology with an LGBT Specialization and Health Psychology concentration from AULA (2011), and a BS in Biology from Santa Clara University (2005).

Research Interests center on LGBTQIA affirmative therapy, psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approaches to trauma, and intersections of physical and mental health for lesbian, bisexual, and queer women. Their work emphasizes containment of transference in therapy with transgender and gender non-binary (TGNB) clients, as well as addressing systemic barriers in healthcare and education.
Recent Publications include chapters on transgender name change processes and pedagogical strategies for teaching LGBTQ psychology. These works highlight their focus on identity affirmation, trauma resilience, and community-based interventions.
