Kathleen Kendall

Professor Kathleen Kendall is a Professor at the University of Southampton's Department of Sociology as Applied to Medicine. Her research focuses on the intersection of criminal justice systems, healthcare, and medical education. Key projects include studying the impact of criminal justice involvement on women’s health in Dorset and Hampshire, evaluating prison alternatives (Hope Street), and advancing interdisciplinary medical education through initiatives like BeSST. She chairs the Behavioural and Social Sciences Teaching in Medicine (BeSST) and serves on the Medical Schools Council Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Alliance Reference Group.
