معرفی
Kathleen Cornely is a Professor of Chemistry at Providence College in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She earned her Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from Cornell University (1989), M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Indiana University (1984), and B.S. in Chemistry from Bowling Green State University (1981).
Research Focus: Her work spans biochemistry, virology (particularly mycobacteriophage genomics), chemical education pedagogy, and public health bioterrorism. She develops innovative teaching methods including case-based learning and research-based laboratory experiences.
Publication Trends: Recent articles focus on mycobacteriophage characterization (2014) and biochemistry education frameworks (2013), with earlier work addressing bioterrorism threats (2005). Her research bridges laboratory science and educational methodology.
Grant Leadership:
- Surface histidine mutations for metal affinity purification (2015-2016)
- Mycobacteriophage isolation/characterization (NIH/RI-INBRE, 2014-2015)
- Friar Phage Hunters research program (2011-2012)
Educational Contributions: Authored 'Essential Biochemistry' textbook (2014) and developed POGIL-based curriculum materials.
