Kathleen Barrett

Kathleen Barrett is an Associate Professor and Associate MPA Director in the Department of Civic Engagement and Public Service at University College, University of West Georgia. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgia State University and an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice from the University of York.

Her research focuses on international and comparative politics, particularly the national application of international human rights law. Current investigations include:

• Comparative studies of torture practices
• Native American litigation strategies before the Supreme Court
• Constitutional court applications of human rights law
• Transitional justice mechanisms
• Judicial corruption patterns

Dr. Barrett teaches courses spanning EU Law & Legal Systems, Human Rights & Social Justice, Administrative Law, International Conflict Management, and Public Health Policy, demonstrating interdisciplinary expertise across political science and public administration.
